These programmes are suitable for people with varying levels of experience in each field, all applicants will be considered on an individual basis and will need to undertake an interview with a diagnostic test to determine which level of course is offered.

The programme is designed for young people aged 16 - 19 however applications from mature learners are welcome. Students are required to be self-motivated and to take a degree of responsibility for their own learning, enthusiasm is essential.

Theses courses are recognised trade qualifications and each course will prepare learners for the next level. The courses are made up of practical and theoretical based units each of which is assessed by a range of methods including written assessments, end tests, practical activities and practical examinations. There is a final theoretical and practical exam, which students need to pass in order to gain entry to the next level.

Students will be based at Alliance House, our purpose built construction facility, with access to industry standard tools and materials. In addition to practical sessions the course will include formal lectures, one-to-one and group tutorials and self-directed study.

Learners will need to be prepared with writing materials, steel toe capped boots or shoes, goggles, college sweatshirt/hooded top/polo shirt and protective trousers. The cost is approximately £75 - £100.
