Large enough to be able to offer the widest range of subject combinations, but small enough to be able to provide the care and support each individual student needs to be successful. In the Sixth Form Centre, as elsewhere throughout NEW College the emphasis is on good teaching and active support in a friendly and adult atmosphere.
This approach is proving successful, especially with regard to A Levels with NEW College Sixth Form students achieving a 94% pass rate last year with a 100% pass rate in 17 subjects including Maths, Media, Business and Geography.
Atmosphere
The first thing that many people notice about the NEW College Sixth Form is that the atmosphere is very different to many sixth forms. College simply feels a lot calmer and more business like. Everyone feels as if they are treated with respect and as individuals.
Support
At College, you will also be supported as an individual. Subject teachers spend a lot of time with their sixth form students and every student has a personal tutor who will set up regular appointments to meet you one-to-one in order to review your progress and any actions necessary to improve. At College we also have a large friendly student advice centre where students can drop in for advice and guidance about just about any issue affecting their study or what to move on to next.
